The time-tested concept has proven the merit of transferring excess heat from the compression zone of the screw back to the transition zone.
There, the internally modified screw returns the unneeded front-zone heat to a point where it can be reused to finish melting incoming pellets that otherwise get through on regular screws.
Unmelted pellets cause screw wear, especially if glass-filled; meaning frequent screw replacement. By eliminating unmelted pellets, a thermallycompensated screw will easily give three times the life of a normal screw.
At the same time, the new screw allows you to reduce front end-heat with a direct effect on cycle, part quality and reject rate.

This service is available from IMS for injection machine screws. Most existing screws can be drilled out for this modification. For those that cannot, you might consider letting IMS supply you a Thermally-Compensated Screw, instead of putting good money into a screw repair — money which would go a long way toward buying a new IMS thermally-compensated one instead.
It is worth considering! Our aim is to allow your existing presses to outperform the best of the new ones.
