You will see that an Insulation System can be extremely cost effective. And this only includes the direct savings in machine energy usage. There will be additional savings in air conditioning costs should you mold in an area where this is necessary. On occasion, molders tell us that they are reluctant to try the insulation. They believe that the blankets may be difficult to install or remove.

Since the blankets are installed and secured by cinch straps, installation and removal is quick, painless and easy.

Clearly, the materials used to design the Uni-Vest™ Barrel Insulation System were the key to its success. The cold face (outside fabric), made of PTFE impregnated fiberglass cloth, is flexible enough to conform to intricate shapes and is resistant to most industrial chemicals. The hot face (inside fabric) is constructed of silica fabric and maintains insulation capabilities in steady state temperatures up to 2000° F. And the insulation? Non-asbestos ceramic fiber that will withstand extreme heat for long periods of time without breaking down. These Uni-Vest™ Modules were made to last; in fact, they resist material degradation better than any other blanket on the market.

Uni-Vest™ Installation Instructions
Installation
  • Remove any resin from heaters and barrel external surfaces.
    Important: All heater electrical wire needs to be high temperature – 900°F
  • Strap blankets on snugly, but not tight. Do not pull straps tight.
  • Ensure no mechanical devices rub the blankets
  • Exit lead wires from heater bands out the overlap or side of the blanket
  • Injection molders: Install segment blankets starting at the rear of the machines hopper end and work towards the front of the barrel.
Removal
  • Remove blankets from the barrel with care. Sharp objects may tear inside fabric.
Important Information
  • Interior fabric, cream color, is rated for 2000° F
  • Exterior Fabric, green or blue in color, is rated for 500° F
  • Blanket warranty is for 5 years under normal operating conditions
